About Me

Let me introduce myself: I'm in my early 50s and have called Dunbar my home for the past 20 years, where I met and married my husband Pete, a retired Police officer. Together, we have four grown-up kids, two elderly cats, Haggis and Neeps, and a playful Staffy dog, Keeva. We're a close-knit, family-orientated bunch, and our house is always bustling with the comings and goings of family and friends.
I absolutely adore spending time outdoors, particularly by the sea, going for long walks on our fabulous beaches with our dog Keeva. We love exploring new places, and have a special fondness for the Northwest of Scotland, again spending most of our time on the gorgeous beaches. Photography is a hobby of mine, capturing the beauty that surrounds us, although I’m a long way from being a pro. Music holds a special place in my heart too, particularly 80’s and 90s alternative music and cheesy pop and I especially enjoy a concert.

For the past 28 years, I've had an incredibly rewarding career as a Cardiology Nurse at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, including the last 8 years as a Charge Nurse. I thrived in this demanding yet fulfilling role that equipped me with essential skills for the role of a Celebrant.
First and foremost, I'm a people person – friendly, kind, and approachable. I love meeting new people and hearing their life stories. Being a Celebrant, allows me to continue to do this but also gives me the added privilege of being able to tell your special story to your favourite people.
Compassion and empathy are values I hold dear, which allow me to share in your joy and excitement and to be able to provide you with support in sad or stressful times.
I believe that the people we meet in life, shape our world which is why it’s important to me to be accepting of everyone. Attention to detail and attentive listening are crucial for creating your perfect ceremony, and I bring professional integrity, respect, and discretion to ensure that the ceremony we create together is as unique and as special as you are.

Why I became a celebrant
Years ago, I attended two beautiful celebrant-led funerals, and I was deeply moved by how these ceremonies captured every detail of amazing lives lived and really celebrated them, something I had never expected nor encountered at a funeral. The uniqueness of the ceremonies really appealed to me. It seemed like such a special gift to be able to create such meaningful ceremonies, and something I thought I'd like to be able to do.
My own wedding was the turning point in turning my thoughts into reality, after a beautiful celebrant led ceremony in our own garden which was totally 'US' and so personal, relaxed and Fun! I then completed Funeral and Naming Ceremony training with the Celebrant Training Academy Scotland, and Wedding Ceremony training with The Academy of Modern Celebrancy UK and haven't looked back!
