About Me

Hi, I'm Sara Bamford. A Celebrant based in the Lothians and Borders.

I'm in my early 50s and have called Dunbar my home for the past 20 years, where I met and married my husband Pete, a retired Police officer. Together, we have four grown-up kids, two elderly cats, Haggis and Neeps, and a playful Staffy dog, Keeva. We're a close-knit, family-orientated bunch, and our house is always bustling with the comings and goings of family and friends.

More About Me

I've recently retired after 30 years of an incredibly rewarding career as a Cardiology Nurse at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, including the last 8 years as a Charge Nurse. I thrived in this demanding yet fulfilling role that equipped me with essential skills for the role of a Celebrant.

My own wedding, 3 years ago to my husband Pete was the point my thoughts about becoming a celebrant turned to reality. After a beautiful and personal celebrant led ceremony in our own garden, I completed my training and I've never looked back!

I love spending time outdoors and going for long walks with my dog Keeva. I love exploring new places, and have a special fondness for the Northwest of Scotland, spending most of my time on the most breathtaking beaches.

My Approach to Being a Celebrant.

First and foremost, I'm a people person – friendly, kind, and approachable. I love meeting new people and hearing their life stories. Being a Celebrant, allows me to continue to do this but also gives me the added privilege of being able to tell your special story to your favourite people.

Compassion and empathy are values I hold dear, which allow me to share in your joy and excitement and to be able to provide you with support in sad or stressful times.

I believe that the people we meet in life, shape our world which is why it’s important to me to be accepting of everyone. Attention to detail and attentive listening are crucial for creating your perfect ceremony, and I bring professional integrity, respect, and discretion to ensure that the ceremony we create together is as unique and as special as you are.

Testimonials

Sara was the perfect choice for our Civil Partnership. She completely captured the essence of ‘Us’ in the ceremony she prepared. The service had exactly the right blend of humour, seriousness and emotion. Sara was calm, professional, reliable and very funny too, which was exactly what we needed.

Secret Newlywed

Sara helped to create a beautiful Naming Day ceremony for my now 6 month old little girl. She created a service which was personal to both myself and my baby. Thank goodness I'd brought spare tissues, because wow were they required!

Tina

Really listened to what we wanted and composed such a lovely service for Dad. She went above and beyond what I expected from a celebrant, she liaised with the church and funeral directors about the logistics on the day and she kept regular contact so I was never in doubt about what was going on. She also checked in after the funeral.

Sarah

Sara struck such a beautiful balance between sweet, emotional and funny, with just the right level of formality. Her communication in the lead-up was fantastic and made us feel completely relaxed and confident that everything was in safe hands.

Mr & Mrs Taylor

Our planning meetings were always so comfortable and fun - like meeting up and chatting with an old friend. We’re so grateful for the time and care Sara took in learning about us as a couple and our love story
